Update...

Util09236 We continue with a busy schedule this week. The office remodel is making good progress and the utility project is really taking shape, although its creating a big mess! The crews have been relocating the sewer and installing new water and electrical lines.

We realize that maneuvering around the church campus can be challenging at times. Please know we are doing the best we can to maintain a safe environment, while allowing for good traffic flow. Unfortunately, progress doesn't come without its inconveniences. We are hopeful that both the office and utility projects will be mostly complete at the end of October 2008, just a few short weeks away.

Please continue to pray that construction progresses on schedule. There are daily challenges we encounter, but we trust that with prayer they will be minimal and resolved quickly.

Until next week,
Paul

P.S.  Be sure to check out the new photos of the project either here or on the Web site!

Latest News...

We'll, if you've been on the church campus lately I'm sure you've seen the construction that is underway. The utility relocation project is certainly affecting our parking and pedestrian traffic, but we are enthusiastically embracing these inconveniences as they are necessary to prepare for our multi-purpose building. This week the crews have been trenching for relocation of the sewer lines and preparing for new water and electrical lines.

The CE building remodel continues in full swing with drywall, fire sprinklers, roofing and electrical work in process. As of this week we anticipate an end-of-October completion to the remodel, then we'll begin moving offices in early November!

This week we mailed a small brochure to those in the church providing an update on the projects and finances. If for some reason you did not receive a copy, stop by one of our information kiosks this weekend and pick one up. There are critical prayer points that we need to focus on for each of our projects.

Until next week ...

Busy, Busy, Busy

This week has been extremely busy on the building front.  The CE Building remodel is moving along at a rapid pace, with sprinklers, new beams and network cabling being installed.  Yesterday we had a crane lift a new beam and 3 replacement air conditioning units onto the roof of the CE building.  If all goes according to plan, we will be ready to move our Admin offices in November.

The utility relocation project began this week with survey crews marking up where utilities are, where trenches will go and preparing for saw cutting and possibly some digging next week!  It won't be long and this campus will be a mess...in a good way!

These are exciting times.  After months and years of planning, we are finally moving ahead with construction. Could we be nearing the ground breaking of the multi-purpose building late this fall???

Until next week,
Paul

Next Up....Multipurpose Building Permit!

Well, this week is shaping up to be an exciting milestone in our multi-purpose building efforts. We will be submitting our plans to the City of Modesto for approval this Friday...on 08-08-08! There's a cool date to remember. We anticpate that these plans will take at least two months for approval, and possibly longer. The city has a lot of details to check and approve.

Work on the CE building continues as we prepare to move our administrative offices in later this fall. I hope to have some pictures up on our website this week and will continue to add pictures each week...you'll want to be sure to check them out at fbcmodesto.com under the "Building on Purpose" tab.

Please pray that we'll stay on track to submit the plans to the City Friday and for the on-going construction to go smoothly. There are so many details whenever you build or remodel!

Until next week

Another Permit!

7Util0908

Yesterday we obtained our permit for the utility relocation project!  This is a big step forward after 18 months of planning, coordination and meetings with the City of Modesto and various utility companies.  We look forward to moving ahead on this project.

Our utility relocation project will move all public utilities out of the middle of our church campus, enabling us to build our multi-purpose facility.  Through this project we will eliminate several power poles, and we'll move water, sewer, telephone/cable lines.

My best estimate is that our contractor will begin the work sometime in the next couple weeks.  At some point, our parking will be impacted and we'll have to park a bit farther during construction.  We have a plan in place that we'll share with the entire church as soon as we have final dates when the lots will be affected.

Please pray for our contractors and the utility companies, that their work would go smoothly, without any complications.  We have spent a lot of time planning, but as with any major project, there can be unforeseen challenges along the way.

Until next week,
Paul

Update...

Well, the last few weeks have been filled with working out details on our office relocation to the CE building and the utility relocation.  Construction in the CE building continues this week and if you walk through the first floor you'll notice that some of the hallways have been blocked off for construction.

Our architect and engineers are working on a few final details with the City of Modesto to obtain a permit for our utility relocation project.  We are hopeful within the next week or two the plans will be approved and we can move ahead with moving the utilities.

Please continue in prayer for the design team as they work with the City and on the plans.  Also, please pray that we will all be faithful in our giving toward these projects.  We have been very encouraged with the response to accelerated giving to Building on Purpose so we can be move ahead with our multi-purpose building this fall.

Until next week....

Progress...

We'll, after two weeks of vacation and watching my oldest daughter get married, I am back at it here in the office!  I had a busy, but great time away.

I wanted to briefly bring you all up to speed on our projects.  This week we are working toward finalizing the permit for the utility relocation project and hope to have a permit in hand shortly.  Our contractor is ready to begin work on moving the utilities to clear the site for our multi-purpose building.

The CE remodel is under way.  We will be moving our offices there this fall.  The final multipurpose buidling plans are being drawn up and we are on track to submit to the City of Modesto in early August.

As always, please be in prayer for our design team and the City as we work toward appoval of our plans.

Until next week,
Paul

Beginnings....

It finally happened, we began the renovation for our new admin offices!  On Monday the first crew moved in and started the CE building remodel.  We anticipate this remodel project will take until early September and then we'll move our main offices, clearing the way to demo the admin building (there will be no tears shed when it is gone!)

On another note, It now appears that we'll be able to pull the permit on our public utility relocation within the next couple weeks.  Thanks to our design team and some final meetings with the City of Modesto this week, we anticipate having a permit in hand very soon and will start moving utilities shortly after.

Looking ahead, when we complete our office move and utility relocation, we will have the site ready for ground breaking of our new multi-purpose building, sometime early this fall.

Please continue to pray for the design team.  We are approximately 50% complete with our multi-purpose drawings and have targeted end of July to complete these drawings.  There is a lot of work to be done in the next 7 weeks to accomplish this goal and prayer for wisdom in all the details is critical.

Until Next week,
Paul

Permit time...

Well, it looks like this week we will pick up our permit to remodel the Christian Education (CE) building.  As we have anticipated moving our offices to the CE building, it will be awesome to finally obtain this permit and start work.

Speaking of starting work, we are scheduled to begin the remodel of the CE building beginning next Monday, June 9.  We anticipate that this remodel will take about 12 weeks, which means we should begin moving our offices in early September.  Once the existing Administrative office building is cleared out, we will be ready to demolish it and clear the site for our multi-purpose building.

Our next major step is to begin moving the public utilities (power, water, sewer, gas, phone, etc) in order to break ground on the multi-purpose building.  The plans for the utility relocations are currently under review at the City of Modesto.  When approved, our contractor, Huff Construction, will be ready to begin work on this part of the project!

This week's prayer request is that the utility relocation plans will be approved in the next week or two.  The approval process can be complicated due to coordination among City departments, but we believe we are very close to approval.  Please pray that the approval process goes well and we can wrap this part up.  It is very important that we begin the utility relocation as soon as possible in order to break ground on the multi-purpose building this fall.  Any significant delays now will push us into the winter months.

Until next week,
Paul

New Renderings...

I wanted to mention that I updated the rendering photos on this blog.  If you click on the photo to the left you can view our three new drawings of what the multi-purpose facility will look like.  You'll notice these include the 2-story building and park area.

Have a great rest of the week,
